Which 3M Product Should You Use? A Quality Inspector's Guide to Wire Connectors, Tapes, and More

For most countertop installations, I recommend a high-strength construction adhesive rated for wood-to-cabinet bonds, applied in a serpentine pattern. But the adhesive isn't the only factor. The wood itself needs protection during cutting and assembly.

If you're still not sure, read the product data sheet. It lists shear strength, temperature range, and cure time. That's the transparent information you deserve before spending money. And if a product claims to work on everything, that's a red flag - no product works on everything.

And here's a general rule: per FTC guidelines (ftc.gov), any product performance claim must be substantiated with evidence. So when a package says for heavy-duty use, look for the actual shear strength or temperature rating. If it's just a vague phrase, that's a red flag. The transparent brands print the numbers on the box.
